Overview:

Every employee, regardless of job title, is responsible for ensuring a safe environment throughout the store. This includes, but is not limited to immediately securing an area when a hazardous situation occurs, promptly informing the store manager of the situation, and/or promptly taking action to remove the hazardous condition. Every employee must also maintain a friendly attitude, wear the proper uniform or dress code, keep the store stocked and organized, and provide excellent customer service on a regular basis.

- Politely greet customers with a smile and provide excellent customer service; attend to customers’ needs calling for manager or supervisor when necessary
- Promptly scan products or weigh produce being purchased; operate cash register accurately and efficiently accepting all forms of payment and provide the correct change when appropriate
- Maintain cash drawer with sufficient currency and coins
- Count out cash drawer at the beginning and end of a shift
- Conduct price checks when necessary
- Place items in bags for customers; assist with loading into shopping cart when necessary
- Return discarded items back to shelves when necessary
- Keep the conveyor belt, scanner, scale and counter clean at all times
- Assist with keeping the front of the store clean, organized, and free from safety hazards
- When requested or scheduled, straighten out displays and shelves of merchandise (a/k/a “facing”)
- Attend and/or participate in store or department meetings
- Punctuality and good attendance in compliance with company policies; ensures work responsibilities are covered during foreseeable absences
- Performs other work-related duties as required to accomplish the objectives of the position
