**SUMMARY OF DUTIES**:
The Supervisor Material Control position is responsible for the distribution and management of inventory parts and records. The position manages the receiving, storage, and movement of inventory within the Amtrak Supply Chain organization. This position supervises, coaches and motivates the department’s personnel, made up of TCU clerks to receive, store, issue and distribute all direct and indirect materials used in the operational support of Engineering and Mechanical departments. The position also oversees the safety and security of all agreement and non-agreement personnel.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**:
- Responsible for the day-to-day materials management activities within Amtrak’s Supply Chain network
- Manages the work force, inventory systems, materials, safety, environmental & security systems based on current standards and policies.
- Performs routine site inspections to ensure compliance in all areas of material management processes
- Manages annual facilities budget and determines annual capital requirements for facilities & equipment improvements
- Optimizes material service levels for various Maintenance of Equipment and Maintenance of Way operations.
- Interacts with outside parties such as FRA, FDA and original equipment manufactures regarding inventory control/handling issues
- Manages 1 to 3 SAP plant locations aligning with 1 Million to 9 Million in inventory valuation
- Manages a staff between 3 to 25 Amtrak personnel
- Responsible for the management of the line side distribution project for tooling and inventory solutions at all Amtrak locations. Works as lead with cross functional departments to design and implement the processes, training, and KPI metrics to ensure the overall success.
- Manages the BAM process and dashboard for any future enhancements. Hosts the weekly BAM call based on a set annual agenda Provides internal communication from all leads and is the focal point for day to day priority issues.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:
- BS in Business Administration, Logistics or related field. Or, equivalent combination of training, education, and relevant experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
- Working knowledge of SAP and other ERP add on systems.
- Experience in materials management, materials planning, supply chain or related fields.
- Effectively works in a strategically focused workforce and on cross-functional teams.
- Must be able to work and communicate effectively in writing and verbally with all levels of the company and suppliers.
- Satisfactory prior job performance.
- Demonstrated experience in materials management, inventory control, within a distribution environment
- Demonstrated managerial skill and ability to lead train and develop employees
- Proven excellent interpersonal skills, leadership, problem solving to guide and support his staff to achieve goals consistent with departmental and corporate programs and objectives within budgetary constraints
- Proven excellent leadership, problem solving and presentation skills to guide and support members of the assigned unit in achieving goals consistent with departmental and corporate programs
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of cycle counts and methods to maintain and improve location and inventory validity and accuracy
- Strong working knowledge of corporate policy and procedures including safety, materials management and DOT (CFR49) requirements
- Satisfactory prior job performance
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**:
- 6+ years of relevant experience
- Extensive experience in logistics & supply chain lean processes
- Advanced working knowledge of SAP IM\EWM ERP systems.
- Working knowledge of ARIBA systems
