**Job Purpose**:
**Key Accountabilities**:

- A pre selection field aptitude process that is considered part of the interview process will be held to evaluate the propensity for applicants to climb wood poles and utilize construction tools and equipment. Following this, applicants that are accepted will take part in further 6-8 week training class overseen by TLS Supervisors and TLS Represented Line workers to final selection of the workers who will continue with Transmission Line Services on a full time basis
- Must be able to understand written directives and communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors
- Demonstrate a mechanical aptitude and ability to advance to Line Worker 1/C through progression process.
- Be physically able bodied for heavy physical work, and must be able to operate safely all Company vehicles, tools and equipment.
- Must be able to bend, lift and shovel dirt around poles.
- Successful completion of pre-line worker qualifying Company programs. Including Successful pole climbing (various objectives) in order to perform work from different heights
- Must have and retain a valid motor vehicle operators license, which does not restrict driving of off hours operations. Also, be able to obtain and retain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL and class A without restrictions) with proper endorsements to operate all applicable Company equipment, pass DOT physical and be able to obtain a company system hoisting certificate.
- Must pass Field Assessment Test prior to acceptance into program
- Have mechanical aptitude, desire and ability to advance to Transmission Line Live Line Specialist Including all Hot Stick and Bare Hand Applications.
- Demonstrate responsible behavior to tools and company equipment.
- Successfully pass all schools, Annual Expert Training and training programs given or provided by the company

**Qualifications**:

- Transmission Line Services (TLS) Apprentice Line Worker
- Be able and willing to work under adverse conditions.
- Be available for scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
- Furnish an acceptable means of off-hour contact by phone.
- Demonstrate a willingness and ability to take instructions and to follow through correctly.
- Demonstrate an ability to work in transmission Right Of Way environment.
- Demonstrate knowledge and use of personal hand tools.
- Learn basic Knot tying.
- Demonstrate ability to tie knots: Square, Clove, Bowline, Half Hitch, Eye Splice, Bowline and a Bite. Pass qualification on these knots.
- Complete initial safety training and abide by all safety rules and policies set forth by the company in the Company Safety Hand Book including but not limited to the correct use of all P.P.E. i.e. rubber gloves, safety glasses, hard hats, harnesses, fall protection equipment, protective footwear etc.
- Assist Lineworker of higher grade in various line associated tasks
- Learn and practice daily work and safety procedures.
- Learn to identify Transmission construction tools, hardware and equipment and the various types of transmission structural designs.
- Must be able to work long distances away from home including overnight stays for extended periods of time for planned and unplanned emergency projects as required (May be weekends and holidays)
