Coder Ii

Overview:
Monterey Park Hospital, located in San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, and recruiting for a part time, 8 hour, non-exempt day shift** Coder II position**. Monterey Park Hospital is a 101 bed acute care community hospital and has provided our community with advanced medical and culturally sensitive health-care services for over 50 years. The Coder II will report to the HIM Director.

**Responsibilities**:
The **Coder II **will assign codes for diagnoses, treatments, and procedures according to the appropriate classification system for inpatient encounters and outpatient encounters. Use official coding guidelines and APCs reimbursement expertise to assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT-4, and HCPCS diagnoses and procedures. Abide by the Standards of Ethical Coding/AHIMA and adhere to official coding guidelines. Other responsibilities as determined by the Coding Manager, HIM Director in conjunction with executive management.

Qualifications:
**EDUCATION**:
Current coding certification - RHIA, RHIT, or CCS in an active status with AHIMA.

**Work Experience**:
One or more years of coding experience in acute hospital setting.

AHIMA-approved ICD-10CM/PCS trainer.

Must be able to work effectively with common office software and coding software and abstracting systems.

**Other**:
Excellent computer skills, including Google Office, EHRs, Encoders.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Analytical/critical thinking and problem solving.

Knowledge of information privacy laws and high ethical standards.
