Daggett Fire Department is full service, all-risk fire department serving the community of Daggett and providing statewide mutual aid as needed.

Daggett Fire was recently granted funds to provide our volunteers with fuel reimbursement. This is a great benefit for those serving our community.
- Receiving a fuel reimbursement or any other benefits DOES NOT constitute the volunteer as an employee and NO employee rights are granted or afforded. This is a VOLUNTEER only position. Either party may terminate the volunteer position at any time without cause or merit. Volunteer Firefighters serve at the will of Daggett Community Services District & Daggett Fire Department. The fuel reimbursement program may end at any time and volunteers will not receive any financial assistance for their volunteer time with Daggett Fire Department.

**Job Description**:
The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position. Staff reserves the right to add, modify, change or rescind work assignments as needed.
- Performs full range of fire safety activities, including placing fire hoses, setting ladders, operating fire streams, and other Fire Department equipment, ventilate, and enter burning structures to extinguish fires and rescue victims.
- Conducts and performs rescue, ventilation, overhaul, salvage, and clean-up activities at fire scene.
- Administers emergency aid and assists in emergency incidents.
- Performs support and maintenance activities such as servicing fire hydrants, fire equipment, and repairs.
- Keeps abreast of current firefighting methods and operations and departmental policies and procedures, which may include but not limited to fire procedural manuals involving fire codes and Emergency Response Guide (ERG).
- Conducts public education and information activities including assisting in the preparation and dissemination of informational materials and making presentations.
- Performs fire apparatus or other fire related equipment repair and maintenance.

Job Qualifications/Education:

- No fire experience required, we provide in-house training by our state-certified fire instructors
- EMT-B preferred
- California Drivers License
- High School Diploma/ GED equivalency

Skills and Ability to:

- Be trained, instructed, and supervised in all aspects of firefighting, fire prevention, fire inspection, emergency medical procedures, and related activities.
- Operate heavy machinery and firefighting equipment.
- Function effectively in high-stress training simulations and high-stress live emergency situations while receiving constant feedback and/or criticism related to performance as a member of the team.
- Perform a wide variety of strenuous fire suppression activities, including hazardous material incidents.
- Demonstrate physical endurance, agility, strength, and stamina in the performance of hazardous tasks under emergency conditions.
- Observing and following safe work practices.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Operate basic modern office equipment, including personal computers.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with all levels of staff, community organizations, and the public.

Applicants must have a California Driver's license, be physically fit, pass a background check, and be able to volunteer a minimum of three 24 hour shifts per month.
