The City of Irvine seeks a compassionate Community Services Specialist to oversee and implement senior programs and services for adults, ages 50 and over, including assistance programs, outreach services, volunteer management, and intern training programs. The Community Services Specialist provides leadership of the Keen Center for Senior Resources (KCSR) to support older adults in the City of Irvine and acts as a City liaison to community partners.

Under the direction of the Community Services Program Coordinator and the Community Services Supervisor, the Community Services Specialist will possess experience coordinating and providing older adults and their families support through resource linkage, referral, monitoring, and care management services as appropriate.

Hours**:Varying shifts between 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Friday.

**Your Impact**
- Responsible for planning, supervising, coordinating, and implementing comprehensive outreach services, including care management intakes, and resource and referral coordination.
- Serves as liaison to community partners and locations where services are provided. Provision of training, supervision, and consultation for care management staff, senior services interns, and volunteers.
- Responsible for assisting with program oversight and facilitation for CHAMPIONS training class, monthly group meetings, and volunteer management.
- Responsible for facilitating City partnership committees, including the interdisciplinary community case review committee.
- Prepares, organizes, and provides workshops and training programs for the community on program area.
- Investigates, interprets, analyzes, and prepares recommendations in relation to proposals for new programs, grants, and services.
- Investigates and prepares reports on specific requests and complaints pertaining to program area.
- May train and evaluate personnel and interns.

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, counseling, social work, gerontology, human services, or a field related with experience in senior services.
- Two years’ experience in senior services or social services programming, or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Possess, or ability to obtain a valid California driver’s license.
- Required to obtain First Aid/CPR certification within three months of employment.

- Demonstrate excellent assessment skills of adults over the age of 50.
- Possess strong knowledge and understand of diverse customs and needs within the community.
- Experience with providing care management and resource and referral services.
- Current knowledge in aging services and/or social services, and community trends.
- Excellent communication skills, detail-oriented, and a team player.
- Ability to handle difficult situations, effectively solve problems, and identify solutions.

The department consists of the following award-winning programs and services: Senior Services, Child, Youth, and Family Services, Athletics, Aquatics, Fine Arts, Animal Care, Recreation Programs & Special Events, Transportation Services (TRIPS), Open Space & Agricultural Programs, Orange County Great Park, and Administration & Business Support Services.
