**VCA Blum Animal Hospital **is seeking a full-time **Veterinary Assistant** for our support team. Come join our growing animal hospital with 7 veterinarians and more than 40 support staff

Since 1952, we’ve been proud to provide Chicago pets with the highest level of veterinary care and customer service by offering a comprehensive range of veterinary services that meet the gold standard of pet care. Our hospital has been AAHA Accredited since 1972 and Fear Free Certified since 2018.

**Summary**: Our Veterinary Assistants support our veterinarians and technicians in all aspects of animal care by restraining our patients during physical exams, treatments, and procedures. They are an advocate of our patients to ensure they receive the proper care in a safe and comfortable manner.

**Responsibilities **_**(included but not limited to)**:_
- Assist our veterinarians and technicians in carrying, handling, and restraining animals during physical exams, treatments, and procedures
- Adhere to strict instruction in regards to walking and feeding hospitalized patients
- Assist in the proper protocol for handling humane euthanasia patients
- Assist in accurately filling prescription medications and diets
- Extensive cleaning and maintenance of the hospital, including treatment areas, exam rooms, surgical suite, and reception area

**Please note: This is not** **a veterinary technician position and does not include practicing phlebotomy.**

**Qualifications**:

- Energetic, personable, and people-oriented
- Experience working with animals and confidence in the physical handling of dogs and cats
- Professional, task-oriented, and pays good attention to detail
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, must demonstrate reliable attendance
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time; standing, kneeling, and lifting of 40 lbs
- General physical capability to work with animals over 50 pounds is required

**We are seeking a full-time employee for PM team. Shift schedule is 10:30am-7:30pm, and every other Saturday from 7:30am-2:30pm.**
