Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital is a 357-bed, non-profit, community hospital and trauma center located in Valencia, Santa Clarita Valley, California. Known to receive prestigious accreditations and recognition in a multitude of specialty designations for excellence in healthcare, the hospital offers an array of services, including newly opened fitness and health center, maternity department, cancer program, advanced primary stroke center and spine and joint program. The hospital is an Advanced Primary Stroke Center and a STEMI Receiving Center, as well as part of the Los Angeles County Disaster Resource Center (DRC) network.

Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital is in search of a **Quality Specialist** to fulfill **day shift (8:00AM-4:30PM)** position in the Quality and Patient Safety department.

As a **Quality Specialist**, you will:

- Be responsible for facilitating performance improvement activities and supporting large, multidisciplinary teams to improve quality and patient safety.
- Be responsible for ongoing preparation and analysis of quality data to support improvement activities.
- Be a role model for the Henry Mayo Way of patient, employee, partner and community engagement.
- Report directly to the Director of Clinical Quality and Patient Safety, no subordinates will be reporting to this position.

Qualifications you will need to have:

- Current certification as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred
- Bachelors degree required in related field or Associates degree in related field with 2 years related experience and/or training
- Graduate degree (MPH, MHA, MBA or MSN) preferred

We are looking for a **Quality Specialist **who have:

- Must have one (1) year recent experience in health care setting _**required**_
- Experience performing data analysis
- Must have knowledge, experience, and understanding of quality management/improvement principles tools
- Knowledge and understanding of the current trends and forces shaping the health care delivery system
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, public speaking and presentation skills
- Demonstrated capabilities in cross-functional process assessment, problem solving and process improvement
- Demonstrates and applies program management theories, principles, practices, techniques and methods to create and maintain a high-functioning Quality, Performance Improvement, and/or Patient Safety program.
- Effective oral, written and presentation skills
- Ability to lead and direct teams and/or committees.
- Ability to interact and collaborate with all level of the organization, including the Medical Staff
- Advocate and facilitator for continuous improvement
- Ability to prioritize and effectively execute to achieve goals
- Problem solving skills: Ability to identify a problem, draw valid conclusions, implement and manage appropriate resolutions
- Report Analysis: Able to develop, compile and analyze statistical reports
- Able to monitor overall performance of assigned tasks
- Provide best in class customer service

**Physical Demands - Clerical/Administrative Non-Patient Care**:

- Frequent sitting and standing/walking with frequent position change.
- Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and chest level.
- Occasional/intermittent reaching at or above shoulder level.
- Occasional/intermittent bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing/pulling, twisting, and climbing.
- Occasional/intermittent lifting and carrying objects/equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Continuous use of near vision, hearing and verbal communication skills in handling telephone calls, interacting with customers and co-workers and performing job duties.

Pay: $28.82 - $46.11 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
