Supervises the student Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Program to perform emergency medical services on ASU campuses and special events to accomplish goals and objectives for the program in accordance with established priorities, time limitations, funding limitations or other specifications under general direction. Plans, organizes, evaluates, and implements activities to ensure safe and compliant emergency preparedness and life safety programs and educates, advises, and informs campus community about emergency action and preparedness plan requirements and communicates practices and procedures for modifying to improve safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of plans. Reports to Associate Director.

**Essential Duties**
- Performs all aspects of an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), with duties and responsibilities as established with the emergency services program.
- Maintains current certifications including, but not limited to: EMT certification, and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers CPR certification, participates in professional development activities and maintains the authorization to drive ASU Vehicles.
- Supervises the activities of part time student emergency medical technicians (EMTs), provides on-the-job training and continuous evaluation of employee job performance through observation and skill testing.
- Develops and schedules emergency services work plan in accordance with specifications and funding limitations; oversees the daily operations and coordinates activities of EMT program.
- Manages the student Emergency Medical Technicians continuing education (CE) program to ensure that EMTs are meeting and exceeding NREMT-mandated minimum education requirements.
- Leads and develops CPR and AED training for ASU and affiliates.
- Conducts remedial training to improve performance and skill levels.
- Coordinates daily and weekly schedule to ensure employees comply with State, university, and departmental required training.
- Partners with EHS, Employee Health, Emergency Management office, EMS Program Medical Director, and other stakeholders to develop appropriate emergency action plans.
- Develops and provides program specific on-boarding (orientation) sessions for new EMT hires, including, but not limited to: university and department policies, protocols, skills assessment, customer service requirements, employee performance and certification expectations, departmental culture to ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable state and local regulations/requirements.
- Coordinates activities of program with inter-related activities of other programs, departments, or staff to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and specifications.
- Coordinates EHS and Emergency Management activities involving Special Events and events involving local life safety and emergency preparedness jurisdictions.
- Coordinates and oversees routine maintenance schedule and supplies for all emergency equipment to ensure ongoing availability for community events and/or an emergency response.
- In consultation with EHS leadership, reviews and updates the EHS Emergency Response Plan.
- Schedules the EHS on-call emergency, on-call phone; develops and tracks EHS emergency response kits.
- Assists with the development and implementation for emergency management of large-scale events throughout the University Campuses.
- Assists with coordination of emergency operations center - EOC with set-up and operation.
- Ensures that policies and procedures are current and in compliance with ABOR policies, applicable regulatory requirements, university procedures and laws.
- Reports any significant problems, life safety regulations and code requirements, and any significant accidents or illnesses, to Asst. Vice President.
- Enforces life safety regulations and codes.
- Drives Arizona State University leased, owned or rented vehicles and carts to various ASU locations to perform work.

**Minimum Qualifications**

Bachelor's degree in emergency management, safety or other field appropriate to area of assignment AND two years administrative/coordinator program experience OR, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Valid Arizona State Driver’s License within 90 days of start date. Arizona Emergency Medical Care Technician at the level of Emergency Medical Technician - EMT or Certified Emergency Paramedic - CEP, certified to practice in the
