Our programming serves more than 900,000 participants annually at the Museum, at the Fort Bend Children's Discovery Center, and at the 270+ outreach locations across Greater Houston. We welcome families with offerings that include 13 exhibits, a performing arts series, a full slate of cultural programming, science activities led by degreed educators, and weekly Free Family Nights.

**Job Summary**:
Children’s Museum Houston (CMH) seeks a Program Manager to be responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of the Parent Stars program. Parent Stars is a parent engagement program that helps parents of school-age children understand how they can become integrally involved in promoting the science, math, and literacy learning of their children both at home and in the classroom. Throughout the school year, the Parent Stars team facilitates 170+ Family Learning Events in elementary and middle schools in the Greater Houston Area.

**Job Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Program and curriculum development**
- Ensure that pertinent resources on math, science, and literacy for early childhood are available for ongoing programmatic development.
- Participate in the development and translation of age-appropriate math, science, and literacy-based Family Learning Events, resource guides for parents and other activities as needed.
- Understand the needs of Pre-Kindergarten—Fifth Grade students and develop strategies to meet those needs in the Parent Stars program.
- Participate in the revision of instruction materials and other program materials as directed by the Director of Community Outreach.
- Stay abreast of current events and pertinent information in early childhood education and attend professional development related to job duties.

**Program Implementation**
- Develop and maintain a viable program within designated school communities to strengthen parent understanding and support of their children’s science, math, and literacy learning in Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade.
- Facilitate off-site Family Learning Events and early literacy programs. Effectively engage parents, children, and other attendees at off-site events.
- Share information with program participants about other Museum offerings and direct them to appropriate Museum personnel for additional information.
- Coordinate orientation of interns/volunteers and document attendance and performance evaluations.
- Maintain close communication with CMH’s Senior Manager of School Partnerships to appropriately deliver program offerings.

**Reporting**
- Provide reports and continued program design information to the Museum as needed.
- Oversee the documentation of all aspects of the Parent Stars program including attendance at events, program development, feedback from participants, and all other relevant information.
- Submit timely participation statistics, photographs and evaluation reports for review and placement in permanent files.

**Staffing**
- Empower team members to support the Museum’s mission statement.
- Provide a positive working environment that fosters leadership through service.
- Periodically assess staff work performance and evaluations.
- Manage staff time and mileage reports.

**Other duties**
- Attend professional meetings, conferences and staff development workshops as needed.
- Organize and gather materials for trainings and meetings related to the Parent Stars Program.
- Oversee program’s supply requests and submits requisition forms to Manager of Exhibit Collections according to schedule and immediate needs.
- Facilitate in all Museum galleries as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Demonstrate an ability to take initiative and possess skills for problem solving and conflict resolution.
- Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management both internal and external to the Museum and with partners.
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism.
- Communicate effectively and professionally in English/Spanish in written and oral forms.
- Able to discern the sensitivity of internal/external communications in a large public organization and an awareness of the elements of public relations.
- Must be efficient and detail oriented with a strong customer/constituent focus.
