**Job Summary**:The Electroconvulsive (ECT) Assistant performs designated direct and indirect age-specific and developmentally appropriate patient care under the direct supervision of the ECT Relief Registered Nurse(RN) and ECT Manager; arranges all communications and activities related to patient care; performs secretarial and clerical aspects of patient care; participates in development of interdisciplinary treatment plan; follows policies, protocols, techniques, and guidelines; utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize customer service, safety, and professionalism; contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient and visitor population. Performs other duties as needed.

**Education and Experience**:High School graduate or GED required. Successful completion of an approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program or completion of School of Nursing Fundamentals preferred. Minimum six months experience as a nursing assistant experience preferred. Minimum one year of experience in a hospital and/or acute psychiatric setting preferred.

**Knowledge and Skills**:Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position; operate and troubleshoot patient care equipment required for the position; perform basic patient care activities using proper body mechanics and safety precautions. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; follow directions; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; collaborate with RN to problem solve; recalling formation with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; function within scope of practice. Able to distinguish colors, hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.

**Licensures and Certifications**:Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred. Completion of a Managing Assaultive Behavior (MAB) course required within ninety days and annual recertification.
