Chevy Chase Club is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable** Horticulturist **to join our team The Horticulturist will assist the Garden and Grounds Manager, Greenhouse Manager, and Lead Horticulturist in overseeing horticultural activities across the club's extensive grounds and greenhouse facilities. This position is essential for maintaining the beauty and health of our gardens and contributing to the overall member experience.

**Job Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Assist the Garden and Grounds Manager, Lead Horticulturist, and Greenhouse Manager in managing horticultural activities for the grounds and greenhouse departments.
- Plan, install, and maintain specific gardens. Provide support to the Garden and Grounds Manager and Lead Horticulturist in the planning, installation, and maintenance of all other gardens. Maintenance tasks include Integrated Pest Management (IPM), deadheading, weeding, pruning, staking, watering, and other necessary duties.
- Stay up-to-date with horticultural standards and practices by actively participating in professional organizations and conferences.
- Collaborate with other departments to prepare for club events, including indoor and outdoor parties, club functions, sports competitions, and Christmas decorations.
- Maintain a Maryland State Pesticide Applicators license and ensure compliance with all state regulations.
- Perform all duties and responsibilities as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- Strong knowledge of garden design, plant identification, insect identification, plant pathology, soil structures, and IPM strategies. Ability to perform physical tasks related to garden and grounds maintenance.
- Knowledge of the principles, concepts, and practices of horticulture, including all applicable laws and regulations
- Ability to utilize knowledge to design, install, and maintain annual, perennial, and tropical plant display beds
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in both a team environment and independently
- Maryland State Pesticide Applicators license or willingness to obtain one is required
- Ability to lift over 50 pounds, work outdoors in all elements and able to work holidays, weekends or evenings as necessary
- B.S. or Associates Degree in horticulture is preferred, but not mandatory
