Job Overview:
We are seeking a diligent Facilities Caretaker to join our team. The Caretaker will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of our facilities, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all occupants.

The Facilities Caretaker is a part-time (20-28 hours) regular position with flexibility in daytime scheduling.

The Jonnycake Center of Westerly has over 7,000 sq. ft. of treasures to explore and thousands of items moving on and off the sales floor each day. The Thrift Store was created to help fund our Food Pantry and Social Services Departments and provides a positive, respectful, and enjoyable work environment. Tasks will include the execution of routine, emergency, and seasonal maintenance and custodial duties of the Center’s property and historic building.

Required:

- Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance with a history of tenacious reliability
- Ability to follow directions and work independently within parameters of instructions/duties
- Ability to communicate with staff, tenants, service techs, donors, and customers in a professional and courteous manner
- Ability to lift heavy loads (50 pounds) on occasion
- Ability to work outdoors in all conditions for short time periods
- Ability to work cooperatively with others as part of a team
- Ability to remain flexible and positive in a rapidly-changing environment
- Smart decision-making skills
- Ability to pass a background check
- Flexibility in scheduling depending on seasonal needs
- High School Diploma, GED, or comparable life/work experience
- Experience with power and hand tools
- Experience with basic home and building repairs
- Drug free
