The objective of the Water Maintenance Worker is to perform a variety of duties relating to the maintenance and flow of the water system. This position is responsible for the construction, distribution and metering of the water and wastewater systems within the City.

**Responsibilities**:
PRIMARY **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties._
- Performs scheduled maintenance and repairs.
- Diagnosis and repair water and wastewater lines.
- Performs emergency repairs of the water and wastewater systems in all types of weather conditions.
- Installs new water and wastewater service connections.
- Performs routine maintenance on City vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Maintains accurate records and documentation of work orders, repairs, etc. **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education and Experience**:

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to work an “on-call” duty schedule, as assigned or in severe weather conditions when needed. **Required Licenses or Certifications**:

- Texas driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Valid Class “B” CDL, preferred; OR ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
- TCEQ Class “D” Water License, preferred, or ability to obtain within the first year of employment.

**Required Knowledge of**:

- Safety policies, procedures, and practices.
- Applicable local, State, and Federal laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances. **Required Skill in**:

- Operating a variety of hand tools, power tools, and other equipment.
- Following written and verbal instructions.
- Maintaining a professional manner when interacting with City employees and the public.
- Reading and interpreting maintenance and equipment manuals.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. **Reasoning Abilities**:

- Ability to respond to complaints and grievances posed by the public.
- Ability to define problems and deal with a variety of situations.
- Ability to think quickly, maintain self-control and adapt to stressful situations.
- Ability to use good judgement and effectively problem-solve. **LANGUAGE SKILLS**
- Ability to communicate effectively with other members of the staff, supervisor, and the public.
- Ability to communicate in both written and verbal form.
- Ability to read City policies and procedures, written instructions, general correspondence, MSDS sheets, safety manuals, traffic signs and warning labels. **MATHEMATICAL SKILLS**
- Ability to calculate basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). **Physical and Work Environment**

**Physical Demands**:

- May be exposed to various weather conditions, potentially dangers tools, equipment, and machinery, heights, and hazardous chemicals.

- Job requires lifting of heavy objects weighing approximately 50 pounds.
