Finance Specl - Provost Office

**POSITION DETAILS**

Finance Specialist will report to the Chief of Staff, Office of the Provost. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Finance Specialist will be responsible for but not limited to the following duties:

- Verify, record, and post financial transactions such as funds received and disbursed.
- Process checks for accounts of the Division of the Provost Office; prepare financial statements and reconcile account balances.
- Develop weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, and ad hoc operational reports for the Division of the Provost Office.
- Work with external auditors during annual reviews and audits and other department officials to verify students’ eligibility for grants and scholarships prior to processing checks.
- Record and update financial information in CUNYfirst.
- Manage HR/Payroll processes, including employee onboarding, appointments and timesheet tracking and entry for the office and units reporting to the Provost.
- Supervise part-time and full-time personnel in functions relating to funding; and provide training.
- Play a major role in the year end closing process to include coordination with Purchasing and Accounts Payable.
- Preview submitted Non-Tax Levy Travel and Expense reimbursements for faculty/staff and confirms travel complies with NTS Travel Regulations
- Examine invoices, claims, vouchers, statements, bills, etc. for accuracy by reviewing supporting data and records.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor’s degree and four years’ related experience required.
- Solid background in effective communication of logical thought processes and information
- simply and concisely in person and in writing.- Strong organizational and supervisory skills; be able to deal with multiple assignments/ projects with conflicting priorities and tight deadlines.- Motivated and enthusiastic self -starter with the ability to work well under pressure, take initiative, exercise sound judgment, discretion and tact in various situations, and solve problems creatively and diplomatically.- Able to work effectively, collaboratively, and cooperatively with diverse staff and upper-level administrators.- Proficiency using computers and software programs and willingness to learn new systems.

**CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW**

Coordinates financial matters for a program or department under management direction.- Maintains financial accounts for income and spending; administers the allocation of funds- Analyzes spending, income trends and usage to recommend improvements- Manages the collection of revenue and accounts receivable- Tracks and maintains financial data to provide fiscal reports to management; produces forecasting projections- Monitors the financial condition of operating centers to ensure efficient use of resources- Performs ad hoc reporting and analysis as necessary- May supervise subordinate staff- Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary commensurate with education and experience.

$70,238-$90,375
