**Job Summary**:
The Health and Safety Coordinator (Contractor Safety) is an employee position in the Transformation & Centralized Services Department that supports work in other Departments such as Electric Operations, Gas Operations, Projects & Construction, etc. The coordinator will report to the Health and Safety Program Manager-Centralized Services. The coordinator will provide Safety oversight on a particular project or projects with the goal of driving positive Safety performance focused on Contractor Safety. The scopes of these projects include various construction and modification activities inside energized stations, on public Rights of Way, and at other varied PSE&G sites. The personnel involved in these projects include PSE&G Employees and Construction Contractor Workers.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide Safety oversight on a particular project or projects.
- Develop, foster, and maintain a culture where Safety is the number one core commitment.
- Ensure all project personnel are conducting work 1) in a safe manner, 2) in compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and PSE&G regulations and requirements, and 3) in compliance with their company Health and Safety policies to include their Site Specific Health and Safety Plan (HASP) for the project site and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) for the task.
- Assist project personnel by interpreting and explaining existing regulations and requirements.
- Assist in the implementation of new P&C safety requirements and procedures.
- Review HASPs and JHAs to ensure they include all pertinent and necessary safety information based on the project scope of work including appropriate control measures for all recognized hazards for the task.
- Review Contractor lift plan submissions to ensure they contain all information required by OSHA and PSE&G to safely perform the lift.
- Participate in Tailboards (Pre-Job Briefs) to ensure they are effective.
- Conduct documented Job Site Observations of ongoing work to proactively identify safety issues and make on the spot corrections.
- Analyze Job Site Observation data to proactively identify safety issue trends and take actions to reverse the trend.
- In the event of a project incident, work to make the site safe, lead or participate in the investigation, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Lead or participate in Safety related special projects.
- Lead or participate in meetings with key project personnel to discuss project Safety performance and create or review Safety plans for upcoming conditions or events.
- Maintain effective communication and a positive working relationship with all project personnel.
- Utilize the Stop the Job Policy if any hazardous conditions are present.

**Job Specific Qualifications**:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering or related field with a minimum 5 years of work experience with direct safety-related responsibilities within the utility, construction or similar industry
- Without a bachelor’s degree, must have 9 years of work experience within the utility, construction or similar industry
- Strong leadership, adaptability, decision making, problem solving, teamwork, communications, client/customer satisfaction focus skills
- Operate office equipment such as computer, tablet, telephone, cell phone, fax machine, copier, etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and persuasive interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and presentation skills
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must foster an inclusive work environment and respects all aspects of diversity
