- _High school diploma or equivalent required._
- _Minimum two years of surgery scheduling or scheduling experience._
- _Must have experience with authorizations, insurance verification, referrals._
- **What does the Surgery Coordinator do?**_
- The Surgery Coordinator is responsible for scheduling surgeries and coordinating surgical appointment with the hospital / other departments. Scheduling patient appointments and tests in an efficient and timely manner. Answers all incoming calls regarding scheduling. Serves as a liaison between patient and medical staff. Other duties include insurance verification, obtaining authorizations, referrals, preparing surgery estimates, requesting medical records, collecting payments, etc._
- **The essential duties and responsibilities**:_
- _Schedules all surgeries for 1-2 surgeons_
- _Schedules outpatient appointments/testing/surgeries and hospital admissions upon request. Obtains necessary pre-certification as required._
- _Responsible for follow up on all pre-operative tests to ensure cleared for surgical procedure and communicates with physician and patients if further testing is required before surgery is performed._
- _Obtains and enters all insurance authorization, and correspondence relating to referrals in patients charts and/or electronic medical records (EMR)._
- _Collects co-pays, deductible and other out of pocket amounts at time of visit._
- _Maintains primary office scheduling template containing physician meetings, satellite schedule, rounding and call coverage._
- _Arranges for patients to have financial counseling as needed._
- _Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/practice._

Pay: $18.50 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
