**Museum exhibition description**:
Currently the Rose Island Lighthouse includes a museum space that covers the history of lighthouse keeping on Rose Island. We are expanding our museum spaces on the island to include multiple rooms in the historic Fort Hamilton Barracks that focus on additional layers of the island’s history, its military and environmental history in particular. The Museum Research Coordinator will conduct research and organizational activities towards the launch and initial operation of this museum space.

This new museum exhibition will cover the history of Rose Island, including the military uses of the island by the US Government in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries, as well as indigenous connections to the island, its natural history, and the ecological future of the island with regard to climate change and sea-level rise predictions.

While we have a cursory understanding of these uses of the island from previous research, more work is needed to further research and obtain media and information from partner institutions to organize into a public exhibition that will be permanently available on the island to the visiting public.
