**JOB TITLE**: Paralegal

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**:

- Prepare, organize, and file documents and correspondence with the court
- Conduct legal research
- Update and maintain docketing and filing as well as internal databases
- Prepare witness and other materials for case preparation
- Organize relevant documents for attorney review and case preparation
- Prepare for depositions, including the preparation of discovery requests; facilitate service of process and coordinating examinations before trial (EBT)
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs
- Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics, etc.)
- Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes
- Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices
- Aid attorneys with interrogatories and other discovery requests
- Assist between trial teams and internal/external third parties; conducts investigations; engage in on-line legal research; develop pleadings; prepare motions and other pertinent legal documents/forms for review by assigned attorney; assist in discovery
- Accurately and consistently track and record all related billable and non-billable time;
- Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices

**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Experience working with experts, including preparing materials and trial preparation
- Familiarity with medical records and preparing related chronologies
- Previous experience attending trial(s)
- Investigative mind and strong factual research skills
- Working knowledge of legal database software
- Experience in preparing legal reports
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Relativity and Word

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**:

- Certification or associate’s degree in paralegal studies (bachelor’s degree is preferred)
- Minimum of 5 - 8 years’ experience in a paralegal role
