Housekeeping Job Description
- You must punch in 5 minutes prior to scheduled time in proper uniform and name tag and be sure to have your hair lifted off your shoulders. Hairnets are allowed to be worn as protection. Gloves are provided and encouraged to be used while cleaning rooms.
- You must ensure that you are using the correct chemicals in your rooms. Glass cleaner to be used on mirrors, outside of coffee maker, and to shine faucets, shower heads and all chrome. All purpose cleaner is to be used for dusting the furniture, wiping black desk chair & wiping down the phone and light fixtures. Tilex should be used on toilets, sinks and shower walls. If the tub is discolored, use comet in the bottom to scour it out. Bleach products are only to be used in the designated areas so as not to harm any upholstered fixtures or furniture in the rooms.
- It is your responsibility to ensure that your cart is well stocked and ready to go without interruption. Do not get to your rooms to then discover you are missing necessary supplies or cleaning tools. You cart must be cleaned out at the end of the day and maintained with organization and cleanliness each day you use it. NO EXCUSES about who used it before you or after you. This is your work area so keep it cleaned and stocked
- You must turn in your vacuum once weekly to maintenance for it to be cleaned.
- Each room should have fresh cleaning rags used with a minimum of 3-4 rags per room. One wet rag to wash down the tub walls, tub, vanity/sink, and outside of toilette bowl and tank. A dry towel to dry off all mentioned areas and then used to wipe bathroom floor. A new/dry towel should be used on the mirror/glass areas. A dry rage should be used for dusting.
- It is your responsibility to pull down shower curtains if they smell bad or are soiled.
- It is your responsibility to check mattress pads, pillow case protectors and duvets for stains or soiled items. And never use stained linen or terry in rooms
- You must dust all edges of nightstands and chair legs and must edge room daily as needed
- It is your responsibility to spot check all walls. If you see marks or a wall is soiled you must clean it. Also, any stains or marks on the carpet, doors, lampshades, curtains, etc. must be reported if you cannot get them removed. Check curtains and sheers in each room to ensure none have fallen off the tracks and each sheer and curtain have their own rod.
- Towels should be left alone in stay over rooms if they are hanging up. If they are on the floor, replace with fresh towels. Always take used washcloths out and replace with fresh ones.
- If you have any lost & found items on your cart at the end of the day, please bring to front desk and put in log book and make sure all items are bagged and tagged with room number, date, and your name. These items should be placed in lost & found box, do not leave these items in storages or on your carts.
- If the bed skirt is torn or hanging, it is your responsibility to call front desk and ask them to radio maintenance or housekeeping supervisor for assistance. Beds should be smooth and even including the bed skirts and scarves. All pillows must be even and in a neat order on the bed.
- All lights & the TV should be turned on when you enter a room to clean it in order to ensure they are working properly. Do not leave anything on upon completing the room. Please keep coffee machine unplugged as well as the hair dryer.
- Document all broken items in a room which you cleaned or items that are in need of repair on your housekeeping room chart especially furniture, windows/locks, screens, appliances, HVAC units, doors, etc. and communicate to Front Desk staff
- Please greet all guests with a smile and ask them how their stay is and if you can be of assistance to them. Remember we want to cure any problems or issues a guest may have before they leave the property.
- All rooms must be cleaned within the allotted room timing designated by management. All housekeeping staff members receive training which will ensure that the proper organization to clean these rooms within the allotted room timing is adhered to without issue.
- If you enter into a room that appears to be clean and untouched, contact the front desk to locate the supervisor immediately. The supervisor will determine the status of the room and will initial next to the room number if she decides you will not clean the room.
- Do not punch out unless so instructed by your supervisor upon checking all your rooms for compliance.
