**Main Purpose of Job**:
The main purpose of this position is to help clients with reentry transition back into the community after a period of incarceration. This position will help patients identify behaviors and problems related to continued substance use as well as barriers to successful recovery associated with their use such as employment, housing, recovery support and treatment. The position provides assessment, diagnosis, individual counseling and reentry planning. This position will facilitate group sessions utilizing Thinking for a Change (T4C) curriculum. This position will incorporate clinical modalities that include Motivational Enhancement (MET) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) when working with clients. Additionally, the center also integrates the Stages of Change model as developed by Prochaska and DiClemente. This position should be licensed, or be eligible to receive, the Alcohol and Drug Trainee (ADT) status from the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists of Maryland (BOPC) within 90 days of hire. This position will be supervised by a certified alcohol and drug counselor.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Experience**: None.
**DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Experience working with incarcerated individuals
- Experience navigating the judicial system
- Experience completing substance use disorder assessments and referrals for treatment
**LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS**:
2. Employees must successfully obtain certification or licensure from the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Certified Associate Counselor-Alcohol and Drug within one year of meeting the experience requirements for Certified Associate Counselor-Alcohol and Drug.
3. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
