The primary purpose of the Adult and Aging (A&A) Division is to ensure resources, advocacy, safety and well-being of older adults, adults with disabilities and caregivers are met. To ensure that the division can carry out its purpose and meet the agency’s responsibilities related to advocacy, protection, and wellbeing, the A&A Division Director may move or reassign this position’s related work duties and responsibilities within the job class.
- Supervises staff and programming related to Congregate Nutrition, Nutrition Education, Nutrition Counseling, and other contracts administered by the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) related to the Nutrition Programs.
- Monitors, assesses, and reports on the business processes and activities related to Nutrition.
- Analyzes County, State and Federal service standards, policies, and procedures to develop required contract documents, monitoring instruments, reporting structures and timelines, as well as recommendations for effective and efficient service delivery and reporting at the local and state level.
- Analyzes and implements strategy for compliance of programming and reporting and builds and oversees technical items like standards of work, policy, procedures, scopes of work, reporting structures, and compliance related to the contracts and the Area
- Plan and service standards for the work of the Nutrition Program.
- Serves as a primary contact in partnership with the AAA Program Manager and the Management Analyst (MA) II Registered Dietitian for staff of the Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) regarding Congregate Nutrition, Nutrition Education, and Nutrition Counseling, reporting, and related tasks.
- Attends state calls with the MA II Registered Dietitian and analyzes any changes for impact to the program.
- Provides technical assistance regarding the state and federal regulations and participates in technical meetings at the local and state level. Provides technical assistance and back-up to the MA II Registered Dietitian, specific to technical work including but not limited to menu planning, nutritional education, nutrition counseling, monitoring, and technical learning for interns.
- Serves as the primary contact for development of contract needs related to the work of Nutrition Programs.
- Serves on selection advisory committees to analyze potential contract awards.
- Serves as the lead for information and input related to the work of Nutrition programming with regards to the Aging Strategic Plan or other partnerships.
- Responsible for all data related to Nutrition programming. Responsible for oversight of the development and implementation of timely reporting structures. Responsible for timely collection and reporting of program metrics, statistics, and summary reporting, including data entry for partners that do not have access to the system of record. Produces necessary written and/or oral reports as needed.
- Builds expertise in utilization of the system of record for data warehousing and for reporting needs. Runs reports and analyzes them regularly to inform the work of the Nutrition Programs. Approves and tracks meal invoices in partnership with Finance staff. Reports data as requested to A&A leadership including the Quality Assurance (QA) manager. Performs quantitative and qualitative analysis. Prepares reports for the state and federal regulators and facilitates state compliance monitoring visits.
- Conducts regular monitoring activities to ensure compliance contractual agreements and state and federal regulations. Receives and reviews monthly and quarterly program reports. Conducts programmatic reviews. Develops, implements, and analyzes surveys and other performance measures.
- Analyzes, manages, and maintains business operations including awareness of and adherence to budgetary needs and funding utilization requirements in the space of Nutrition work. Serves as the primary contact for any audits related to the work. Approves and tracks invoices and budgetary expenditures under purview in accordance with policy.
