**Essential Function**

The Ministry Assistant will serve as critical support to the Corps Officers and as a ministry leader to the Corps. They will be intimately and integrally involved in the entire ministry of the Corps, including teaching, leading, and preaching the Gospel message, providing spiritual direction and care for congregation members and visitors. The Ministry Assistant will engage as directed by the Corps Officer in leadership responsibilities and learning opportunities that will provide them with a well-rounded understanding and experience of the full responsibilities of Corps operations.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

- **Administration**_
- Open and close office and prepare for daily operations and programming as needed.
- Assist with tracking Corps statistics and generating reports as needed.
- Provide support to Corps Officers in all aspects of Corps operations & programming.
- Ensure the accuracy and timely submission of records and reports in applicable databases for all programs and funding sources as requested by supervisors.
- Other duties within the scope of the role, as assigned by supervisors.
- **Programs & Social Services**_
- Assist with delivering social service assistance, including but not limited to administrative responsibilities: oversight of donations, program utilization, and statistics.
- Link community families involved in social service with Corps activities.
- Assist Corps Officers with the development, planning, and implementation of various programs, including but not limited to:

- Recruiting and screening program participants,
- Recruiting, training, and supervising instructors and volunteers,
- Teaching and leading program classes as designated or as needed,
- Providing transportation for participants as needed,
- Keeping accurate statistics,
- Assessing and evaluating the programs for effectiveness, and
- Developing and implementing a plan for program improvement.
- Assist as needed for general, daily Corps support needs and perform special projects asassigned by the Corps Officers.
- **Community Outreach & Fundraising**_
- Attend and provide support for Advisory and Echelon Board meetings as needed.
- Lead or assist in aspects of public relations events, meetings, and campaigns as assigned by Corps Officers.
- Maintain and regularly update an accurate Community Connections directory, including partnerships, volunteers, donors (financial and in-kind), and various local contacts.
- Connect the community to programs within the Corps and connect the Corps with other local organizations for fundraising, advertising, and partnership opportunities.
- Develop and implement outreach opportunities within the community and assist with fundraising efforts.

**Qualifications**
- Must be a uniformed Salvationist in good standing.
- At least two years of relevant experience are required.
- Strong organizational skills with above-average attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Some knowledge and skills in music are preferred.
- Must be able to demonstrate mature judgment, motivation, and initiative.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work well independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Must uphold biblical standards in personal and professional life, including financial support of the Corps ministry.
- Must conduct themselves in a manner that reflects credit on The Salvation Army, its leadership, and the Lord Jesus.
- Valid Driver’s license and a clean driving record; must be approved to drive Salvation Army vehicles.
- Must understand and appreciate the Mission of The Salvation Army.
