**Job Summary**:
The Nursing Manager will oversee the clinical and financial outcomes of the designated clinical unit(s). This role acts as a representative of the Director of Nursing and Administration and collaborates closely with the Director of Nursing and Nursing Unit Supervisor to ensure competent and cost-effective patient care.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Manage unit operations and personnel activities.
- Ensure the acquisition and retention of qualified personnel.
- Foster a professional climate within the nursing units.
- Develop departmental goals aligned with hospital/system strategic plans.
- Maintain current professional growth through independent study and attending in-service programs and workshops.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum of 3 years experience as a Charge Nurse, Care Coordinator, or Supervisor.
- Demonstrated leadership, management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Registered Nurse license in Texas (If Compact License, Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required within 90 days.
- Specialty certification required within 6 months of hire.

**Additional Information**:

- **Salary**: Up to $130k

- **Current Manager**: Retiring after 30 years
- **Postpartum & Newborn**: Separated for this role with some cross-training to both sides
- **Department Structure**: All RN department without patient care PCTs, but includes unit clerks
- **Designation**: Level 4 maternal and Level IV NICU
- **Facilities**: 3 ORs and recovery on the women’s floor
- **Beds**: Currently 35, with potential expansion to 45
- **FTEs**: 45, including 5 CNCs
- **Patient Types**: Postpartum, GYN surgery, stable antepartum (joint care antepartum for fetal monitoring & postpartum)
- **Nurse-to-Patient Ratio**: 1:6 without PCT, working towards 1:5
- **Births**: 3600 per year
- **Daily Census**: Currently 18-24, with peak months reaching 32-38
- **Shift Expectations**: Days, with 8-9 RNs per shift & a PCT; Nights, with 5-7 RNs; Weekends, with 6-7 day/night shifts
- **Hours**: Flexible M-F, with managers typically starting early and leaving by 3:00 PM or starting later in the morning and leaving early evening. Managers are "on-call" for questions over weekends.
- **Staff Shifts**: 12 hours

Pay: $90,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
