Mid-level Medical Practitioner

The Mid-Level Medical Practitioner, under the clinical supervision of the Medical Director and administratively under the Director of Medical Services, conducts psychiatric evaluations, provides psychopharmacology services, and consultation to clients of HealthWest diagnosed with mental illness and developmental disabilities. This employee provides psychiatric treatment and planning services for referred clients. The Mid-Level Medical Practitioner provides consultation and/or coordination of care for clients. This employee provides education and teaching to clients in compliance with agency standards. This employee completes documentation in compliance with agency standards and all other regulatory and professional requirements and performs related work activities as required.
**Required Minimum Entrance Qualifications**:
1. Graduation from a Physician Assistant Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA); Be licensed as a Physician’s Assistant by the State of Michigan; AND have one (1) year of work experience providing services to adults or youth with developmental disabilities or mental illness;
**OR**
Possess a Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university in an area of specific advanced nursing with a license as a Nurse Practitioner; **AND** have one (1) year of work experience providing services to adults or youth with developmental disabilities or mental illness.
2. Possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a Michigan Driver License within 30 days of employment.
3. Must have reliable transportation that may have to be used to carry out job duties of this classification.
**Preferred but not Required**
2. Lived experiences with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders valued.
3. Individuals in Recovery and individuals with experience in Armed Services valued.
**NOTE - Must be able to provide Michigan Licensure upon hire.**

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
An employee in this class performs generally sedentary work activity requiring the occasional lifting of objects weighing thirty-five (35) pounds or less.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
The employee generally works in the administrative offices of HealthWest; however, travel to locations within the County may be required.
