The Building Official/Zoning Enforcement Officer (ZEO) is responsible for monitoring, implementing, and enforcing all rules and ordinances related to building codes and to any other general health or safety matters under the jurisdiction of the Town of Barrington with integrity and professionalism.
The Building Official/ZEO reports to the Director of Planning, Building and Resilience and is responsible for enforcing and maintaining state, local, and federal regulations. The Building Official is also responsible for understanding and enforcing zoning regulations within the Town and overseeing the part-time electrical, mechanical and plumbing inspectors and ensures exceptional customer service. Knowledge of Town zoning and state building codes and laws is important to the success of this position.
