General Notes
Additional hours will be required to include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. This job is not suitable for remote work and is expected to work regular in-office hours. Travel is required.
Purpose
Assists with the coaching and recruiting for Men's Tennis at The University of Texas at Austin and with camps.
**Responsibilities**:
- The Assistant Coach has significant responsibility in (but not limited to) these areas: mentoring staff; input on scheduling and team travel logistics; promotion of the team and University; fundraising, community service and alumni events; and professional development.
- The Assistant Coach is critically involved in all aspects of the program, is given specific autonomy, and shares responsibilities with the Head Coach in such key areas of the program as practice planning, player training and development, recruiting, coordination of team play, coaching tactics/strategies and staff oversight.
- The Assistant Coach may share responsibility with the Head Coach in establishment/enforcement of team rules and communication with sports medicine and academic staff. The Assistant Coach may represent the Head Coach at meetings, fund-raising functions and alumni events. The Assistant Coach is responsible for adhering to University, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations while supporting the core values of intercollegiate athletics.
- Consistently exemplify the core and quality standards of Texas Athletics. Always act ethically. Proactively seek guidance when unsure or unclear of a law, rule or policy applicable to you or your department/sport program. Actively participate in assigned education and training programs. Comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations set forth by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System, The University of Texas at Austin, NCAA, Conference, or other governing body, including state and federal laws. Annually obtain prior written approval and report all outside activities and outside income. Report knowledge of, or reasonable cause to believe, violation(s) of state or federal laws, policies, rules, or regulations of the University, Conference, or NCAA to IA ARMCS or IA HR. Fully cooperate with any investigation by providing complete and accurate information when requested to do so by Texas Athletics and/or the NCAA and do not influence others in any way during an investigation. As an employee of the university, if you witness or receive information about sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence or stalking that involves a current student or employee, you have a duty to promptly report the incident to the University’s Title IX Coordinator or a Deputy Title IX Coordinator. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Experience playing organized, competitive tennis. Experience coaching men's or women's tennis at the collegiate or professional/club level. Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Working knowledge of sports management computer programs; excellent administrative skills; demonstrated success recruiting highly skilled men's tennis players; ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups. Professional demeanor. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications
5 or more years of coaching experience at a high level which includes a combination of collegiate, regional club, or national level. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills to enhance interaction with student-athletes, peers, alumni, administrative personnel, and the community.
