We are seeking a Pipe Layer to join our team and support the day-to-day operations of our construction projects. Position summary includes; Lay pipe for storm or sanitation sewers, and water mains. Perform any combination of the following tasks: grade culverts, position pipe, or seal joints.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist with general construction tasks, including loading and unloading materials, digging trenches, and operating hand and power tools
- Review plans for grades and utilities to be crossed each day.
- Meet with track hoe operator prior to excavation and walk the ditch, looking for marked utilities, utilities on the plans but not marked and surface structures indicating underground utilities, on a daily basis.
- Maintain open communication lines with project team members.
- Review with foreman/superintendent daily work activities and the productions needed to make or exceed budget.
- Set up the laser per the project plans line and grade. Periodically check the line and grade to ensure accuracy.
- Dig trenches to desired or required depths, by hand or using trenching tools.
- Promote the company site safety program to ensure a safe site in compliance with company, client and government requirements and regulations.
- Report faulty equipment to supervisor i.e., hooks, straps, shackles.
- Attend weekly safety meetings.
- Maintain a clean and orderly project site at all times; maintain small tools and keep them clean.
- Protect the ditch (i.e., Pedestrians/flooding).
- Secure the pipe with a plug at the end of shift.
- Be responsive to requests for information and services from client, company and project operating entities.
- Use active listening skills and work to resolve any problems between project personnel, owners and/or subcontractors that may arise.
- Maintain a positive atmosphere and promote teamwork on the jobsite at all times.
- Provide support wherever and whenever needed to complete the job successfully, safely, and on time.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 2-3 years experience.
- Ability to follow written instructions or blueprints, and coordinate layouts with supervisors.
- Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate.
- Familiarity with the tools and equipment needed to do the job.
- Ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing or lying down.
- Experience in construction or related industry preferred
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds and working in all weather conditions
- Basic math and measurement skills
- Ability to follow directions and work independently or as part of a team
