**Overview**

Intellectus Prep is a 6-12 public charter school projected to serve over 300 students in the Mount Vernon City School District over the next five years. In the school year 2024-2025, we will serve grades 6 through 9. Our mission is to deliver an equitable educational experience for scholars. Through experiential learning, restorative practices, and personal development, scholars are prepared to compete academically, contribute socially, and choose their pathways to college and career. Intellectus Prep seeks to provide another high-quality educational option where there are not enough.

Our overarching structure is an Entrepreneurship in STEAM (STEEAM) integrated curriculum. We guide our students towards an understanding of entrepreneurship. With our integrated STEAM curriculum, we build on students’ knowledge and hook their curiosity by utilizing experiential learning to provide students with opportunities for engagement in inquiry and reflection when learning new concepts. Through counseling for all, we affirm student identities by embedding into our programming continual self-reflection and self-monitoring with the assistance of a mental health professional who is dedicated to student personal growth. We intentionally tackle the opportunity gap, by investing time for scholars to engage with businesses and fields through apprenticeships and community work. We explicitly teach money management, personal finance and wealth through our financial literacy coursework, empowering scholars and their families with the tools necessary to devise the financial plans that match their goals and aspirations. Our utilization of adaptive structures to deliver a truly differentiated learning experience for scholars with regard to both academics and social-emotional learning, allow for us to ensure that all scholars, including our most vulnerable populations, are engrossed in a learning experience which meets their needs.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Finance and Operations is responsible for many matters of school administration that do not directly relate to instruction or student behavior. This Director allows the Executive Director and Directors of Curriculum and Instruction to focus almost exclusively on growing the organization, student achievement, and the professional development of the staff. This position will take on a variety of operational responsibilities from overseeing the development and implementation of the school budget to gathering and analyzing school data to ensuring that the school has sufficient materials to serve its students. The Director of Finance and Operations is directly involved with day-to-day school operations. He/she may eventually supervise a team of operations professionals including future Front Office Staff, Director of Community Engagement, and Director of School Safety.

**Responsibilities will include but are not limited to**:
**Finance and Accounting**
- Regularly update and revise the budget to reflect the school's changing needs, including providing monthly forecasts and year-to-date financial statements. Analyze variances and discuss these in regular reviews with management, the Board of Directors, and SUNY.
- Prepare detailed financial reports, perform customized financial analysis, and ensure adherence to fiscal policies and procedures.
- Setup and maintain the school's chart of accounts and general ledger with customized account codes. Record detailed transactions, journal entries, and maintain the general ledger to accepted accounting standards.
- Coordinate and lead the annual financial audit process. Reconcile primary bank and investment accounts monthly, and petty cash accounts quarterly.
- Record and reconcile capitalized assets and related depreciation in the general ledger. Generate financial reports as requested.
- Manage the school’s purchasing process, place orders with vendors, track deliveries, and maintain inventory levels to ensure resources are effectively utilized.
- Provide reports for grants and ensure timely submission of per-pupil invoices to sending districts and receipt of payments. Manage fund accounting in accordance with grants and other funding sources.
