The Randolph-Macon Academy bookstore, aka "The Jackets Nest " serves the needs of students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents and friends of R-MA in a friendly, customer-oriented environment. The primary mission as a retail store is to provide spirit wear, gift items, school supplies, dorm room necessities, sundries, and snacks to the R-MA community.
Job responsibilities:
Manage the daily operations of the bookstore with mínimal supervision
Order all branded and non-branded merchandise and supplies
Ensure availability of merchandise with vendors and local stores
Conduct and maintain accurate store inventory
Update and maintain student accounts
Coordinate and provide support for special events including homecoming and graduation
Analyze financial statements for profitability ratios
Provide a safe and clean store environment
Manage stock levels and make key decisions about stock control
Respond to customer complaints and comments
Maintain awareness of market trends in the retail industry
Qualifications:
Must believe in and support the mission and vision of the Academy
Knowledge of retail sales principles, including those related to marketing, pricing, planning, discounting, merchandising, cashiering and inventory management
Ability to operate computers and job related software programs
Decision making and problem solving
Excellent interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public
Skill in oral and written communications
Must be able to work flexible hours to meet the needs of students - store is open am hours, middle of the day hours, some evening and weekend hours
Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
**Job Type**: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 27 per week
