Summer Counselor

The School of Education is currently seeking a Summer Counselor - Upward Bound Math - Science to join their team of professionals. Duties include:

- The Summer Counselor will instruct and supervise young children in academic activities, recreational activities, sports/athletics, arts & crafts, music, and special events during our 5-week summer program.
- Be flexible and able to work well with others while maintaining open and effective communication. Be patient, energetic, fun loving and hardworking.
- Assist in creating daily and weekly camp activity schedules and then follow the schedule once it is developed; must have flexibility to make adjustments to schedule as needed to ensure the safety and well-being of the campers.
- Perform frequent head counts of campers, particularly when in route from one activity to the next.
- Stay up-to-date on all camp-related matters and communicate with camp leadership as needed
- Attends mandatory trainings as required.

**Desired Qualifications**:

- Major in Natural or Social Sciences, or related field and experience working with children and teenagers.
- Undergraduate Sophomore (Minimum)
- Supervisory Experience
- Leadership Ability
- Interpersonal Communication, and Conflict Resolution Skills
- Strong ability to work in a team setting

- Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.

- Upon decreasing credit hours or graduating, student employment must end.
