This position is responsible for greeting guests as they approach the restaurant, interacting with them and answering any questions, and seating guests in a timely fashion. The host/hostess seats and presents clean menus to guests in a friendly, professional manner. This position will be in a restaurant and bar environment. The work station is located out front of the venue, so he or she must be comfortable working in and dressing for both the warm and cold weather. The work environment can/will be loud during evening shifts. The host/hostess will be standing while working, walking into and out of the venue many times each shift while seating guests and performing other outlined tasks, and will need to (at times) walk up or down a flight of stairs.

**Specific Responsibilities**
- ŸGreets and seats guests, presents menus to guests, informs them of daily specials
- ŸConverses with guests while seating, asking them if they have previously visited our restaurant, if they are local or out of town, and what bring them in to visit us
- ŸTreats all guests in a manner to ensure their complete satisfaction
- ŸRuns the floor plan/reservation iPad - this includes: seating servers in order, keeping track of server sections, and updating the iPad as guests come and go
- ŸObserves tables and keeps track of clean, dirty, and occupied tables
- ŸTakes guest information on the waiting list, and quotes wait times to guests accurately when tables are not immediately available
- ŸAnswers phones and questions concerning the menu, restaurant, bar, and upcoming events
- ŸInteracts with and welcomes guests as they approach the entrance of the venue, conversates and answers any questions while guests are in the entrance
- ŸSays goodbye and wishes guests a good day/night as they leave the restaurant to ensure positive dining experience
- ŸHelp maintain clean restrooms throughout shift
- ŸAssist the FOH staff with various housekeeping tasks such as sweeping, bussing, running food, and bringing guests extra items (ex: silverware, napkins, etc)

**Key Competencies**
- Ÿ Good communication with both fellow employees and guests in the restaurant
- Ÿ Must be able to read, write, and determine wait time based on company procedures
- Ÿ Ability to maintain composure in a high-stress, fast-paced environment
- Ÿ Must be able to multitask
- Ÿ Must want to work as part of a team with many moving parts and pieces

**Additional Information / Requirements**
- ŸThis is a part-time position
- ŸMust be available to work in the daytime, evenings, on weekends, and during holidays
- ŸPrior restaurant experience in the same or a similar position preferred
- ŸHigh school diploma or GED preferred
- Pay is hourly $16.85 plus tips
- Applicants must demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States without restrictions within 3 days of hire._
