**Job Duties**

The Deputy Clerk, Payments (grade 8) within the Fairfax County General District Court’s Payment team provides you with the opportunity to gain extensive knowledge of the day-to-day operations of an urban court and the Virginia judicial process. All employees receive a 15% county salary supplement in addition to the state salary.

The Deputy Clerk in this position is responsible for a wide range of clerical responsibilities including, but not limited to, accepting payments on prepaid and unpaid cases; issuing DC-30 reinstatement forms; updating case information in the court’s case management and financial systems; completing amended abstracts for the Division of Motor Vehicles; processing and sorting mail; receipting case papers and preparing daily deposits. The clerk will also be responsible for processing garnishment payments; verifying and auditing fines and costs assessments; performing data entry; producing court correspondence; answering phone inquiries; filing and archiving. More than half of an employee’s time is spent serving the public at a counter window and/or over the phones. This position also requires the performance of other duties as required.
