**Position Information**:
**GENERAL PURPOSE**

- Under general direction of the Assistant Director or Director, independently performs varied, specialized, and technical tasks in the area of Career-Technical Education data research, best practices, job force outlook, teacher externships and student work site process in accordance with District standards, policies and all applicable legal requirements as mandated by the District; and performs related duties as assigned.

**DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS**
- The Career-Technical Education Coordinator is responsible for performing specialized and varied tasks in the area of job outlook analysis, teacher externships, curriculum enhancement, career-technical education best practices, data research and student work-based learning on policies and practices within the framework of the District's Career Resource Centers. An incumbent is expected to provide customer-responsive, cost-effective and high caliber Career-Technical Education services for the department, consistent with District, Los Angeles County Regional Occupational Program and California Department of Education Career-Technical Education Program policies and practices, and provides support to administrators and teaching staff in meeting their Career-Technical Education objectives.

1. Assists with professional development for teachers, administrators, support staff and community on best practices and policies of Career-Technical Education.
2. Assists in the development and training of professional development work-based practices and policies for Career-Technical Education staff.
3. Assists with professional development in the area of curriculum enhancement for Career-Technical Education teachers and administrators.
4. Manages District Career Resource Centers, recommends materials and tools to be utilized.
5. Plans, supervises and evaluates the work of assigned Career Resource Center staff.
6. Researches and provides recommendations to administrators in the area of projected job market outlook.
7. Researches and analyzes Career-Technical Education best practices.
8. Assists with development of teacher business/industry externships.
9. Provides Career-Technical Education data for administrators, teachers and support staff.
10. Prepares and submits Career-Technical Education district, county and state reports.
11. Monitors and prepares attendance reports for career-technical education programs.
12. Researches, conducts and monitors Career-Technical Education assessment tools.
13. Monitors and maintains District student work permits.
14. Assists the department with professional development in the area of Career-Technical Education standards and guidelines.
15. Coordinates and completes the Career-Technical Education requisition forms and routes them to appropriate departments.
16. Advises and assists students, teachers and administrators in the operation and uses of Career-Technical Education related equipment and software.
17. Consults with administrators and support staff, under the direction of Career-Technical Education administrators, to identify appropriate equipment, contacts vendors and researches, analyzes and evaluate Career-Technical Education equipment.
18. Promotes establishes and maintains Career-Technical Education curriculum advisory meetings.
19. Develops and promotes community, public relations and marketing advisory group meetings.
20. Trains, assigns and evaluates the work of assigned personnel; prepares and revises work schedules as necessary; organizes work to be completed and examines completed work; establishes and enforces priorities.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**

1. Career-Technical Education principles and practices including policies best practices and work based learning strategies.
2. Knowledge of current Career Technical-Education programs, including Regional Occupation Program, Perkins and Multiple Career Pathways.
3. Methods and techniques in the area of outcome based professional development.
4. Research quantitative and qualitative analysis methods and techniques appropriate for job market trends and Career-Technical Education student data.
5. Knowledge of acceptable Career-Technical Education assessment tools.
6. Applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and District guidelines and procedures, such as child labor law and Career-Technical Education program administration.
7. Student work-permit process and procedures.
8. Career-Technical Education standards and guidelines.
9. Career-Technical Education equipment and software.
10. Career-Technical Education curriculum advisory practices.
