The Healthy Schenectady Families Supervisor works to improve healthy family and parenting choices among eligible families and individuals in Schenectady County. The Supervisor also helps plan and manage the program and provides strength-based supervision to assigned staff. As part of the Healthy Families New York and Healthy Schenectady Families Programs, this position works closely with the team of educators and other supervisors to promote the well-being of parents, children and families through the use of existing evidence-based health education and parenting curricula delivered through home visits and by the supervision of others performing similar work. Positive, persistent and individualized outreach from the educator keeps families involved in the program and leads to improved outcomes for children, parents, and the community.

Required Qualifications- Master’s degree. A Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years transferrable relevant evidence-based research experience may substitute for a Master’s degree.- Experience relevant to the role of the position.- Ability to help ensure diverse, equitable, and inclusive programs. Commitment to working in limited-income urban settings with diverse program participants in their homes and surrounding communities.- Ability to meet the frequent travel requirements associated with the position. A valid NYS driver's license with the ability to drive and driving record acceptable for agency insurance coverage are required.- Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, and occasional overnight travel.- Program Skills: Ability to deliver evidence-based health education and parenting curricula to participants and work with diverse audiences of all ages. Ability to identify and utilize program resources within the community.- Management Skills - Ability to effectively manage and supervise staff.- Technology Skills - Moderate level skills with Microsoft Office suite, database and internet software.- Communication Skills - Ability to relate and communicate effectively to co-workers, community and professional leaders, and program participants.- Work Environment - In addition to the Working Conditions the work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Preferred Qualifications- Supervisory experience or providing leadership and guidance to others.- Ability to speak, read and write proficiently in the Spanish language, or other non-English language as is spoken in the target community.

Position Responsibilities & Essential Functions

Program Responsibilities:
Program Development - 15%- Assist with program development efforts.- Assist in maintaining direct linkage with Health Families NY collaborators and other partners for program development guidance.- Assist in making programmatic changes based on program evaluation outcomes.- Assist with program development by participating in monthly Home Visiting Partnership workgroup meetings and quarterly Community Advisory Committee meetings.

Program Delivery - 55%- Deliver educational programs to 5-10 families.- Utilize existing evidence-based curricula and support materials to provide accurate, relevant parenting and health education to participating families.- Observe parent/child interactions and provide positive feedback to parents throughout the home visits, based upon the existing program parameters.- Assist Supervisor with development and implementation of Family Goal Plans.- Meets or exceeds targeted education delivery goals assigned by the Supervisor as indicated by the funding source.- Conduct home visits on a weekly basis that then decrease over time until the participant’s child begins school or Head Start.- Assist in ensuring program delivery conforms to Healthy Families NY Plan of Work.- Utilize motivational interviewing strategies in working with all family members to address individual needs and consider diverse audiences.- Utilize established program outline; provide individualized education and development of family goal plans that result in improved birth outcomes; timely attainment of recommended immunizations and preventive care; increased breastfeeding support; decreased use of harsh parenting practices; improved early literacy and increased demonstration of behaviors that promote learning in a school setting.- Utilize skills in
