**Description**:
Under general supervision, the Parks Maintenance Crew Leader provides leadership and support in the maintenance and repair of parkland, grounds, facilities, and the daily operations needed to meet the Division’s goals. Work involves scheduling and supervising crew members performing duties related to parks maintenance, supervising tree plantings, pruning, maintenance and removals on City of Round Rock property, parks, and street right-of-way, drainage ditches and creeks. Assists customers, purchases materials for repairs, assists with athletic fields, special events, and provides journeyman and master-level skills in troubleshooting activities.

**Posted range is the starting salary. Pay rate offered is based on experience.**

**Examples of Duties**:

- Supervises crew members by prioritizing job tasks; assists members with trouble shooting problems; trains on equipment and new job tasks; ensures that safety and department policies are followed; resolves issues within crew and enforces discipline when needed.
- Performs irrigation by testing systems for any problems; replaces sprinkler heads that are broken; repairs broken pipes; repairs and replaces damaged valves, replaces irrigation controllers.
- Handles ground and athletic field by mowing open space; edges roadways and sidewalks; trims all trees; repairs fences; picks up trash and cleans facilities; maintains grounds; strips fields.
- Executes electrical repair by trouble shooting electrical problems; repairs light fixtures; replaces photocells and breakers. Checks for light switch positions, checks with Musco Control Link status to determine light schedules or system problems.
- Performs tree climbing and tree removals in hazardous conditions.
- Responsible for training and supervision of Forestry Technicians on specialized tools and equipment usage.
- Performs tree related storm clean up and emergency response to tree work.
- Provides direction for maintenance and repair for facilities, park amenities, shelters, playgrounds, etc.
- Maintains all equipment and minor repairs, including vehicles, to keep them safe and operational.
- Performs tree irrigation install and repair/maintenance.
- Assists in hiring and evaluating work.
- Retains accurate records of time spent and equipment used on each job.
- Supports special events by setting up, tearing down, and other miscellaneous duties.

**Experience and Training**:

- High school graduation or GED equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience in general labor/maintenance.

**Certificates and Licenses Required**:

- Possession of, or ability to obtain prior to employment, a valid Texas Class C driver’s license.

Depending on the area of assignment:

- Trade journeyman or 4 years of trade experience (electrical, plumbing, painter, carpentry)
- Possession of Class B Commercial Driver’s License or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.

This position may require you to have or acquire a commercial driver's license (CDL). Federal law requires all CDL holders to register with the USDOT Clearinghouse before operating a commercial vehicle. You will be required to enroll in the clearinghouse and sign a consent form allowing the City to run your name through the clearinghouse as a condition of employment.
