**SUMMARY**:
Under general supervision of the Director of Food Services and general coordination of the Food Services
Coordinator, the Elementary Food Service Site Lead provides general oversight of a site school cafeteria, performing duties such as ordering meals and supplies, distributing and monitoring meal cards, computerized data entry, collecting and reconciling meal monies, food assembly, serving and cleaning. The Elementary Food
Service Site Lead is the head position at an elementary site kitchen; in addition to the following representative duties, the Elementary Food Service Site Lead also performs the duties assigned to Food Service Assistants and
Senior Food Service Assistants **.**
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Oversees and coordinates the assembling and serving of foods for breakfast, snacks and lunch service at the site.
- Estimates quantities of food to be prepared for various meals and snacks.
- Trains, organizes and coordinates and directs the day-to-day activities of the site’s food services staff and substitutes.
- Orders meals and food services supplies from the Central Kitchen.
- Restock and refill serving areas for multiple lunch and snack sessions daily.
- Ensures operation of computer program to process students and monies.
- Collects meal monies; makes change; orders and monitors the use of student meal cards.
- Contacts parents regarding overdue student accounts.
- Enters and retrieves data on the specialized food services accounting program, including free/reduced meal information.
- Reconciles daily monies received and meals served; prepares bank deposits.
- Controls and rotates inventory.
- Establishes, maintains, and ensures appropriate safety and sanitation procedures for the site’s food service operations.
- Coordinates the storage of unused food and supplies and the disposal of unusable leftovers using proper methods of storing and rotating foods.
- Ensures and performs the collection, recording, preparation and reporting of data/information for temperature logs, daily tally sheets, inventory reports, menus, student participation counts and meal requests, and other records.
- Sets up serving lines for meal service.
- Assembles, prepares, heats and serves foods; monitors correct food temperatures.
- Establishes and maintains appropriate safety and sanitation procedures at the site.
- Lock up and secure daily all monies, paperwork, mail and food storage areas.
- Close out monies and write final daily cafeteria cash accounts; prepares bank deposits of money paid for meals.
- Makes daily checks for conditions of facilities and equipment in kitchen and serving areas., reports problems identified and calls for repairs if needed.
- Performs assigned duties in a safe manner.
- Other related duties as assigned.
**QUALIFICATIONS /REQUIREMENTS**:
**KNOWLEDGE OF**:
- Large-scale food assembly and preparation using modern methods for cooking, baking, preparation and storage.
- Safe food and kitchen safety practices and hygiene.
- Food services equipment.
- Cafeteria cleaning methods.
- Inventory control.
**ABILITY TO**:
- Communicate with and give clear instructions and training to staff and students.
- Read and follow warning labels to ensure safe use of hazardous materials and equipment by self and others.
- Operate computerized cafeteria accounting programs.
- Make arithmetical calculations, to make change, to account for meals and monies, and to balance and reconcile records.
- Adapt to unexpected situations such as menu changes without notice or if there is a shortage of a planned item being served.
- Inventory items transported from central kitchen for serving and use at school site.
- Follow oral and written instructions.
- Operate cafeteria machines.
- Work cooperatively with other employees and students.
- Free from communicable and infectious diseases.
- Work in a standing position for long periods of time.
- Push, carry and lift large and heavy items up to 40 pounds, bend, twist, reach and stoop.
