**Description**

Summary:
This position will serve as the day-to-day lead for the Bariatric Program and will supervise the ongoing development, implementation and organization of the overall program. The Bariatric Coordinator will coordinate the efforts between surgeons, hospital administration and staff while tracking the progress of the program and identifying areas that require attention. The Bariatric Coordinator is responsible for all program management, report generation and review, process improvement, patient satisfaction, facilities review, budget and administrative activities within the Program. In addition the Bariatric Coordinator acts as liaison between hospital, patient and doctors offices; coordinating inservices, seminars, support groups, team meetings, as well as facilitating flow of patients through the system, data management, and ensuring continuous readiness for Surgical Review Corporation surveys for Center of Excellence designation.

**Responsibilities**:
1. Administration Criteria A: Lead regularly scheduled meetings with hospital administrators, the program medical director, other physicians and key staff. Administration Criteria B: Manage and oversee the day-to-day facility operations within the program. Administration Criteria C: Develop standardized care plans with surgeons including: pre-op, post-op and discharge orders, as well as policies and procedures. Administration Criteria D: Ensure appropriate pre-op preparation for every patient.
2. Performance Improvement Criteria A: Monitor the measurement system for tracking surgical outcomes and patient satisfaction, and identify areas that require improvement. Performance Improvement Criteria B: Provide key results at Leadership Team meetings and for other stakeholders as necessary. Key results may include: outcomes, progress against budget, patient satisfaction, complications, denied days, hospital-wide survey results, nurse call back results, etc. Performance Improvement Criteria C: Coordinate patient satisfaction events a. Call backs (when, who, how to report results) b. Patient luncheons Performance Improvement Criteria D: Provide inservices to each areas required including OR, PACU, 6West, and any others. Collaborate with Healthstream team for updates to annual hospital-wide inservice.

3. Patient/Family Education and Support Criteria A: Develop and oversee the creation of pre and post-op teaching classes, including the coordination of teaching materials with physician's office. Patient/Family Education and Support Criteria B: Coordinate community education and seminar program inclusive of schedules, presenters, content and materials.

4. Planning and Development Criteria A: Create and oversee an ongoing quality improvement plan. Planning and Development Criteria B: Identify patient amenities and secure necessary resources to administer the services. Planning and Development Criteria C: Oversee the development and on-going editing of unit specific forms and patient education materials including: Nurse Discharge Checklist, Coach Discharge Checklist, Patient Guidebooks, Daily Newsletters, Wall Hangings and other standardized materials for the bariatric program. Planning and Development Criteria D: Work with marketing team to ensure proper marketing of the bariatric program. Provide outreach to area physicians and market and promote the bariatric program to area practices.

6. Performs other duties as assigned.

7. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

Education: ASSOCIATE'S LVL DGRE

Other Information:
Required: Minimum ASN or equivalent and/or MPAS or equivalent. 1 year experience in bariatrics preferred.
Minimum Experience: one year

Desired: Licensed RN. PA or APN. Must be able to communicate with patients, family and staff in a professional manner. Proven working relationship with surgeons. Experience with patient / staff education. Proven leadership experience, having managed resources either directly or within the implementation of a new initiative. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to multitask. Demonstrated success in relationship building. Ability to keep team focused on goal / timelines. Customer service focus. Strong data analysis skills, requiring interpretation of clinical results to develop program improvement projects. Experience in achieving results and working with process management.
