Director of Curriculum

8.Sponsors academic research and benchmarking projects and ensures findings and recommendations are documented and shared for evaluation.9.Plans and oversees state and federal categorical grant programs and grant program managers.10.Formulates policies and procedures relative to pupil grouping, testing, evaluating, reporting, and promoting.11.Provides leadership in the development of processes, strategies, and feasibility planning to ensure that the necessary human and monetary resources are appropriately utilized in order to achieve the district aims and goals.12.Supervises home school programs and approves individual plans to insure compliance with state statute.13.Plans orientation and mentoring programs for new teachers with the aid of the principals.14.Directs the textbook adoption process and presents recommendations to the Superintendent of Schools and School Committee.15.Coordinates the identification of students not meeting district or state achievement standards.16.Supervises Title 1, Home School, and ELL/EL PAC programming 17.Oversees the development of summer school programming18.Assists in reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating pending legislation, legal mandates, regulations, and guidelines which may affect the district academic programs, functions, and activities.19.Keeps the Superintendent of Schools and School Committee informed on curriculum trends, benchmarks, teaching methods, and materials as required. 20.Conducts and/or directs investigation of students and parent curriculum and instruction complaints and makes recommendations for resolution.21.Performs such other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position is in a typical school and office setting. Some bending, reaching, lifting may be required. May be responsible for diffusing difficult situations including student restraint.
