SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Guggenheim Museum is seeking a Manager, Public Relations, to be based in New York City.

The Manager, Public Relations will work directly with members of the Guggenheim Museum Global Communications team, including the Interim Head, Global Communications; Interim Director of Communications; and the Communications Associate, and will contribute to the strategy, planning, and execution of media campaigns for current and upcoming exhibitions and projects.

The Manager, Public Relations also will work on internal communications across the museum in New York and, as needed, the constellation of international Guggenheim museums, in line with the Guggenheim brand and coordinated with all external communications.

SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

- 3-5 years of related experience
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Communications, English, Business, or the Humanities
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Strong prioritization skills and ability to successfully manage multiple projects, stakeholders and timelines
- Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships across a highly matrixed organization
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, and manage both short
- and long-term projects
- Demonstrated experience in effective project management
- Prior experience working with major non-profit cultural institutions in the arts
- Experience working internationally and across multiple time zones
- Genuine interest in and knowledge of modern and contemporary art, design and/or architecture
- Working with Microsoft Office 365 and collaboration via Sharepoint is required
- Knowledge of PC and MAC platforms, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, Exact Target, HTML, Cision, Net Community, Raiser’s Edge or other databases helpful
- Capability and fluency with digital media (social networks, video channels)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Internal Communications
- Contribute to the strategy for effective dissemination of information for employees across the Guggenheim New York, working with colleagues in the Communications Department, as well as Curatorial, Advancement, Operations, HR, and other stakeholders as needed
- Act as a thought partner with the Communications Department on internal issues
- Manage the content and process of related meetings and other communications
- Collaborate with IT on intranet and internal workplace communications infrastructure

External Communications
- Contribute to strategic ideation, development and execution of media campaigns and news announcements for exhibitions, events, corporate initiatives, and other special projects, in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborate closely with departmental colleagues to ensure media campaigns are part of holistic institutional communications planning, including Marketing, Social and Digital Media, Digital Experience and Graphic Design
- Participate in meetings with curators and other stakeholders across the museum, to intake information and develop press releases, media alerts, fact sheets, and other external announcements
- Write and develop content (press releases, news announcements, event invitations, and other) to be disseminated to press contacts and the public
- Arrange interviews between curators, artists, sponsors, and collaborators with members of the media
- Plan and staff programmatic and media events, as well as photo and video shoots, etc.
- Develop materials for internal and external meetings (agendas, presentations, etc.)
- Track and report media coverage on a daily, real-time basis

WORK DEMANDS and ENVIRONMENT:

- Ability to travel within the metropolitan area as required to perform the above duties at any of the Guggenheim’s owned or leased properties upon request.
- Occasionally work may be conducted outdoors, exposure to varied weather conditions.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays on occasion.
- Ability to lift at least 25 lbs.
