**Responsibilities**:

- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess visual acuity and detect any abnormalities or diseases
- Diagnose and treat various eye conditions, such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration
- Prescribe and fit eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision aids
- Provide pre
- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries
- Educate patients on proper eye care techniques and preventive measures
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in optometry practices and technologies

**Skills**:

- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to the eyes
- Excellent clinical skills in conducting comprehensive eye examinations
- Proficiency in prescribing corrective lenses and fitting contact lenses
- Ability to diagnose and treat various eye conditions using optical systems
- Strong patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques for maintaining a sterile environment during eye procedures
- Sales skills to effectively recommend eyewear options to patients
- Succession planning abilities to provide long-term vision care for patients

Qualifications:

- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry school
- Valid state license to practice optometry
- Completion of a residency program in optometry (preferred)
- Experience working as an Optometrist in a clinical setting (preferred)
