Elementary Special Education

**PURPOSE**: The Team Chair has a thorough knowledge of all aspects of the interdisciplinary team special education process and mandated special education and 504 procedures, is proficient in understanding diagnostic and team procedures related to students with disabilities progress and eligibility for special education services and has strong organizational, communication and management skills. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate may be considered in conformity with state licensure requirements.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Team Chair must have the ability to competently and professionally perform essential job duties, including, but not limited to, the following: -Facilitating 504 and IEP Team meetings to determine initial eligibility and 3-year eligibility re-evaluation meetings for Elementary-aged students in grades PK-4. - Collaborating with families and early education providers to create a smooth process for young children who are eligible for special education services to access the NRSD Preschool program
- Collaborating with NRSD staff to ensure the coordination of special education programs and services and 504 accommodations. - Other duties as assigned by NRSD Administration.
