**Position Description**:
**POSITION OVERVIEW**:
The Utility Coordinator will work with the Project Managers in the Engineering Department to manage and track utility relocations for Harris County engineering projects.

General responsibilities include utility conflict identification, validation, facility design coordination, utility relocation schedule, metric reporting, executing court actions & completing necessary pay-out items, in addition to attending meetings and field visits as necessary with team members, utility companies, departmental staff, other County agencies and/or the public.

**JOB DUTIES**:

- Coordinate the relocation of private and public utility systems such as electric, pipelines, telecommunication, water, sewer, and drainage.
- Produces monthly status reports for managed areas and leads the utility coordination & management team status.
- update briefings.
- Prepare agenda Items for Commissioners' Court, including after court action items, accounting of purchase orders etc.
- Attend monthly meetings with County's Design groups to brief Engineering team on relocation status.
- Issues utility notifications and coordinates office/field meetings with team members, external utility representatives, and consultants when needed.
- Prepares, processes, and maintains documents, references and/or resource materials.
- Reviews design plans and Utility Conflict Tables for thoroughness and accuracy
- Leads and participates in department initiatives and process improvements.
- Assists with design activities by attending meetings, reviewing documents, coordinating activities, ensuring all parties receive and review ongoing information and facilitating site visits.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Education**:

- Associate degree or equivalent education in engineering, real estate, business, or a related field.

**Experience**
- 1+ Years - Experience in utility coordination, map reading, project management, or planning work.

**Knowledge, Skill & Abilities (KSAs)**:

- Proficient drafting CAD/skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Can work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Ability to read and interpret maps, plans, and schematics.
- Ability to read and interpret legal and technical information & maintain records.

**Preferences**:
**Education**:

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education in engineering, real estate, business, or a related field.

**Experience**:

- 2+ Years - Experience in utility coordination, map reading, project management, or planning work.

**Knowledge, Skill & Abilities (KSAs)**:

- Knowledge in interagency utility agreements.
- Understanding of Utility/TxDOT laws and regulations.
- Pipeline Coordination experience.
- Railroad Coordination experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Proficiency with Adobe and/or Bluebeam/Revu.

**General Information**:
**Position Type, and Typical Hours of Work**:

- Full-Time | Regular | 40 hours per week.
- Hybrid schedule: Three days in the office and two days working from home.
- Subject to early mornings, late evenings, weekends and holidays at times, depending upon the project or workload.

**Salary**:

- Commensurate with experience, based on 26 pay periods.

**Physical Demands and Environmental Exposure**:
Most assignments will be performed in an office, meeting, or operations command center environment, but some field work may be required. May be required to work extended work hours during activation of disaster recovery operations for an unspecified length of time (varies based on the extent of the event).

This position requires bending, stooping, and lifting up to 25 lbs., frequent walking, standing, sitting, reaching, and ascending/descending stairs.
