We have full-time and part-time openings on the PM shift, working 3:00pm - 11:30pm, including every other weekend.

Overview:
You will fully participate in a collaborative and creative treatment environment with psychiatrists, physicians, licensed therapists, nurses, and psychiatric technicians. The Licensed Vocational Nurse / Licensed Psychiatric Technician will, under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, provide nursing care and treatments to patients and monitor all vital signs. In addition, the LVN/LPT will participate in gate-keeping responsibilities for medical issues, under the supervision of the Medical Director, as well as participate in conflict resolution pertaining to health issues. The LVN/LPT will provide assistance to patients/customers/staff as directed by the Director of Nursing, to result in timely delivery of services.

**Responsibilities**:

- Supervise self-administration of medications using safety initiative of using two means of patient identification; document and report affects of scheduled and PRN medications; observe and report affects of medications in a safe and accurate manner.
- Complete the nursing assessment upon admission and indicate potential problems.
- Develop nursing treatment plans for all conditions.
- Communicate pertinent information to peers and physicians and act as a patient advocate; anticipate patient needs and make appropriate suggestions regarding treatment.
- Perform in a competent, calm and professional manner during crises or emergency situations; perform proficiently and expertly; aware of emergency medications, equipment and their location and is proficient in knowledge and use.
- Demonstrate ability to perform procedures and skills in a safe and accurate manner; able to perform complex procedures and skills independently or with mínimal supervision.
- Communicate and document teaching and discharge planning.
- Accurately take physicians orders (verbal or telephone order) and document appropriately; transcribe and review physician’s orders.
- Accurately and legibly document intervention and expected outcomes, noting patient response, effectiveness of intervention.
- Demonstrate the ability to provide safe care to adults.
- Define and classify common chemicals of dependency and demonstrate knowledge of different medications and protocols for detoxification.
- Recognize signs and symptoms of intoxication from different substances.
- Adhere to HIPAA and other confidentiality guidelines.
- Utilize standard precautions and follow infection control procedures.
- Adhere to Joint Commission and National Patient Safety Goals.
- Aware of patient handbook/contents; adhere to program rules.
- Able to give thorough report to oncoming staff, supervisors, and physician. Able to answer inquiries regarding admission and facilitate process.
- Maintain facility safety in regard to unapproved items.

Qualifications:

- Current, active CA LVN or LPT license
- Prefer at least one year in an acute setting
- Minimum of two years freedom from chemical use problems
- Current CPR/AED/First Aid Certification

- Knowledge of the principles and processes of treatment
- Strong interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills
- Good attention to detail
- Understanding of how to use current healthcare technology, such as electronic record-keeping software

Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
