**Job Summary**:
Under general supervision, coordinates bed assignments for patients admitted to the hospital. This includes, but is not limited to, patients admitted through the Emergency Department, Same Day Surgery and directly through the physician’s office. Demonstrates Service Excellence standards in all interactions.

**Responsibilities**:

- Accept bed requests for emergency, urgent and elective admissions and transfers.
- Assign beds based on the Bed Flow Guidelines.
- Communicate with the Emergency Department, Nursing Units and MD offices regarding bed assignments, through the bed management system and/or verbal communication.
- Continually assess existing and anticipated admissions from the ED and discharges through the bed management system and contact with the nursing units and the PCDs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to function independently
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Flexibility and ability to pay close attention to detail
- Ability to multitask
- Clerical, typing and data entry skills
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology

**Education Requirements**:

- High School graduate or equivalent
