Interconnection Planning Analyst

SUMMARY

Qcells is looking for an Interconnection Planning Analyst focusing on energy analysis. This position reports to the Transmission Planning Manager, or another management personnel that the President of the Company may designate.. This position reports to the Irvine, CA office but will maintain a hybrid schedule of working out of their home office and the Irvine, CA office. Working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm local time. This position is expected to travel up to 10%.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Regular attendance, in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position.
- Track industry market reports, policy updates, market changes, and energy trends to provie market insight for company project strategy.
- Utlize external tools like EIA, S&P global, Hitachi Energy tool, or other public forecast data to help economic analysis modeling for assets long term revenue forecast.
- Work on the modeling assumption to improve the simulation work including benchmarking, forecast performance across various load and renewable profile, fuel prices, and policy scenarios.
- Work with other Interconnection Planning Engineers to support transmission planning interconnection studies.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, economics, or information management.
- Ability to analyze and extract insights from mid to large size datasets
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software such as Excel, SQL, and Python or R.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or matplotlib/seaborn in Python.
- Basic knowledge of statistical analysis methods and techniques.
- Experience with data cleaning, preprocessing, and transformation techniques.
- Knowledge of machine learning concepts is a plus but not required.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Problem-solving ability and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to present findings and insights effectively.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Time management and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn new tools and techniques as the field evolves.
- Willingness to travel, up to 10% of the time
- Regular attendance, in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Industry experience with electric utility operations, planning, or consulting.
- Experience with production cost modeling or other power supply planning software, preferably PROMOD, Plexos, GridView, UPLAN, Dayzer, PROBE LT, or others.
