**Position Summary**:
Provides a school ready learning environment for all children. Provides direction for the program and staff as well as a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on youth development, including the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, faith and caring.

**Essential Functions**:

- Provides a positive learning environment and experience for children, parents and staff.
- Implements early learning curriculum within the established guidelines to ensure all children are school ready.
- Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans according to established curriculum.
- Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.
- Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
- Conducts parent conferences, maintains communication with parents, and engages parents as volunteers.
- Maintains program site and equipment.
- Maintains required program records.
- Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
- Guides staff in the classroom in a positive manner under the direction of the Director.
- Represent and support all center operations both internally and externally.
- Role model to both children and staff.
- Responsible for classroom cleanliness, setup and presentation. Playground curb appeal toys cleaned up and stored, trash, etc.
- Responsible for the safety and risk management of both children and staff.
- Work in collaboration with classroom teachers, TUTS, Collaborative for Children, TSR and others to advance our mission where applicable.
- Adheres to policies related to boundaries with each child.
- Ensures unused rooms and closets remain locked; routinely monitors high-risk locations (bathrooms), etc.
- Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Follows mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements.
- Meets timelines and deadlines related to supporting systems and employee compliance. Example includes but are not limited to Kronos Workforce Ready for review and approval of time sheets.

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in early childhood/education preferred. 6 months previous experience working with children in a developmental setting.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Offsite programs meet director qualifications as stated in the Minimum Standards (#744.1047) under TDPRS.
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications are required within 30 days of hire date. Child Abuse Prevention training required prior working with children.
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities
- Previous experience with diverse populations.
- Current record of tuberculosis examination and/or current local health department
