**Summary**:
The **Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Specialist **provides operational oversight, planning, monitoring and reporting related to the UAS Program. Develops comprehensive execution plans for UAS projects, files flight plans with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and coordinates UAS flights to gain necessary airspace clearance and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Communicates status updates and results to mid-level, inter/intra-departmental management, and specifically addresses UAS program updates.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Information Systems, or related field and five (5) years project/program management experience or an equivalent combination of college coursework and experience equaling nine (9) years, including experience in managing a UAS Program.
- Holds and maintains an FAA 107 Remote Pilot Certification with over 200 hours of flight time.

**Major Accountabilities**:
1) Plans, monitors, and manages all aspects of the UAS Program, across one or more departments and/or business units, ensuring compliance and adherence to UAS regulations and internal process methodologies.

2) Monitors performance of all UAS projects, and recommends schedule changes, cost adjustments, or resource additions based on UAS flight hour currency, maintenance requirements, and pilot license validity. Applies Lean Six Sigma methodologies to analyze project data, participate in UAS investigations, identify root causes of issues, and implement corrective actions for improved program outcomes.

3) Coordinates complex UAS flights with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to gain necessary airspace clearance and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Collaborates with FAA representatives to obtain appropriate authorizations and manages the documentation and communication process for UAS operations in controlled airspace. Maintains a thorough understanding of FAA regulations and keeps abreast of any changes or updates relevant to UAS operations.

4) Oversees schedules and directs team resources, including UAS pilots and personnel. Utilizes Lean Six Sigma practices to optimize resource allocation and streamline processes related to UAS flights. Ensures that all UAS flights comply with FAA regulations and safety standards.

5) Provides timely and accurate information and status updates to leadership including detailed reports on UAS flights, FAA coordination, and compliance status.

**CIP Requirement**:
This position requires Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) access consistent with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards. The applicant considered for this role will be required to obtain and maintain CIP access for the duration of employment in this posit
