Job Description: RN - Med Surg (13-Week Contract)

**Location**: Bay City, TX

**Shift**: 12-hour night shifts

**Schedule**: 36/48 rotating schedule

**Role and Responsibilities**:

- **Patient Care**: Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Medical-Surgical unit, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
- **Assessment**: Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical, psychological, and social aspects. Monitor and document patient conditions and responses to treatment.
- **Treatment Administration**: Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed by physicians. Ensure timely and accurate documentation of all care provided.
- **Collaboration**: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- **Patient Education**: Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care. Provide emotional support and counseling as needed.
- **Floating Duties**: Float to the Emergency Department (ED) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as a task nurse, performing assigned duties and supporting the nursing staff in these units.
- **Task Nurse Responsibilities**: Assist with various tasks in the ED and ICU, such as monitoring vital signs, drawing blood, starting IVs, and assisting with procedures as needed.
- **Emergency Response**: Respond promptly to emergency situations, providing appropriate nursing interventions and ensuring patient safety.
- **Compliance**: Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulations. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA guidelines.
- **Professional Development**: Participate in ongoing education and training programs to stay current with best practices and advances in nursing care.

**Qualifications**:

- **Licensure**: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas.
- **Experience**: Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a Medical-Surgical unit. Experience in ED and ICU is preferred.
- **Certifications**: BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
- **Skills**: Strong clinical skills, including the ability to perform accurate patient assessments, administer treatments, and respond to emergencies. Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- **Communication**: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
- **Flexibility**: Willingness to float between units and adapt to different patient care environments.

**Physical Requirements**:

- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move patients as required.
- Capacity to work 12-hour night shifts, including weekends and holidays, on a rotating schedule.

Pay: $53.00 - $58.00 per hour
