**Duties**:
**Fish and Wildlife Biologist**:As a fish and wildlife biologist this position will focus on fish and aquatic community conservation and recovery. Will serve as a species lead for listed and sensitive aquatic species. The incumbent will be involved with implementing regulations under the Endangered Species Act (particularly section 7 consultations, section 10 processes to involve non-federal partners, and environmental review directed by the Endangered Species Act), technical writing and reporting, and developing partnerships with stakeholders/partners including Federal and State agencies, Tribes, private landowners, watershed councils, non-governmental organizations, and other entities. The position is responsible for identifying and engaging key stakeholders, developing and implementing strategic communication, understanding diverse human values and interests in relation to habitat restoration, and carrying out field level financial and technical assistance and habitat restoration aspects with a diversity of cooperators. The position may also be involved in implementing a wide range of Fish and Wildlife Service authorities including the Endangered Species Act, Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Clean Water Act, and others.

Although the position will be located in Tucson, Arizona the incumbent will assist with issues associated with other fish and aquatic communities within Arizona and adjacent states, as needed. The incumbent is expected to be able to work independently and proactively to complete work activities and will act as a technical expert related to fish and aquatic resource issues.

**Qualifications**:

- Only experience and education obtained by 06/12/2024 will be considered.
- **In order to qualify for this position you must possess both the **Basic Requirement** and **Minimum Qualification.**

**Basic Requirement**:
A.** Degree**: Bachelor's or higher degree in the biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
- **OR**
B. **Combination of education and experience**:Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
- **Minimum Qualification [GS-11]**:

- One year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include: participation in implementing federal environmental laws specifically pertaining to the Endangered Species Act, Sections 4, 7, and 10; participate or assist in evaluating impacts to fish and wildlife in response to identified threats or stressors; some experience working with native fish and aquatic communities and their conservation and recovery; assisting with preparing of scientific reports; developing and processing grants, agreements, and contracts to support conservation; issuing Endangered Species recovery permits; and working in teams and with diverse partnerships. **OR**
- Completion of three years of progressively higher-level graduate education at an accredited college or university leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in wildlife biology, ecology, or a directly related field appropriate to this position. **OR**
- A combination of education and experience as described in 1 and 2 above which together equals 100% of the requirement.

**Minimum Qualification [GS-12]**:
One year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include: leading analysis and implementation of federal environmental laws specifically pertaining to the Endangered Species Act, Sections 4, 7, and 10; independently evaluating impacts to fish and wildlife in response to identified threats or stressors; extensive experience working with native fish and aquatic communities and their conservation and recovery; guiding and preparing scientific manuscripts and reports; developing and implementin
